DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Eight members assigned to the 184th Force Support Squadron Services flight participated in a comprehensive readiness training event May 4-8 at Force Support Silver Flag, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. The event spanned two and a half days of in-class instruction, followed by a two-day practical exercise.
The classroom sessions equipped members with essential knowledge in command and control, contingency feeding, contingency mortuary operations, contingency quarters and mission planning. These topics provided a strong foundation for the practical skills required during real-world operations.
After completing the in-class instruction, participants were organized into food, lodging and mortuary teams, with a search and recovery team formed from across all groups. The exercise simulated support for 1,100 personnel arriving locally for hurricane relief support.
The food team issued meals, ready-to-eat, set up a single pallet expeditionary kitchen and served unitized group rations. They seamlessly adapted to multiple exercise injects to ensure continuous feeding operations.
The mortuary team established an operational Alaskan Small Shelter System and handled several scenario-based injects to process casualties efficiently. Meanwhile, the lodging team coordinated force beddown for all exercise personnel, constructed an Alaskan Small Shelter System and executed responses to all exercise injects while working alongside PERSCO.
Throughout both the classroom and practical phases, the 184th FSS team exhibited exceptional teamwork, adaptability and positive attitudes. Their dedication and performance were recognized by the class commander, Maj. Morey, who awarded four out of seven coins to the team, two top performer awards and one superior performer award, marking a successful culmination of the training event.
