COLONEL DAVID M. HEWLETT

 

Colonel David Hewlett is the Commander, 184th Wing, McConnell AFB, Kansas. He is responsible for preparing the largest multi-domain wing in the Air National Guard in support of worldwide joint and coalition operations. The wing employs more than 1,300 airmen, who conduct air battle management, air to ground special warfare, cyber protection, cyber vulnerability assessments, network security, and strategic and tactical intelligence. In addition, the wing fields a full complement of support functions including civil engineering, contracting, force support, installation communication, logistics, medical, and security forces. Col Hewlett also provides the Governor of Kansas with 1,300 guardsmen trained and ready to provide domestic incident response in support of any crisis citizens of Kansas may face at their greatest time of need.

Colonel Hewlett is a 2000 graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air National Guard in September 2002. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Commander of the 184th Cyberspace Operations Group ensuring the security of the Department of Defense Information Network against advanced persistent threats. Col Hewlett is trained as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Cyberspace Operations Officer, and Intelligence Officer and has supported several contingency operations including Operation Northern Watch, Operation Noble Eagle, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
