COLONEL JOSEPH J. DEEDS

Col. Joe Deeds is the Deputy Commander, 184th Wing, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. He advises the wing commander responsible for more than 1,300 Airmen who execute a broad spectrum of missions including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, cyber and information operations, and command and control. In addition, the wing fields a full complement of mission and support functions including civil engineering, security forces, medical, logistics, communications, contracting, and force support.

Deeds enlisted in the Kansas Air National Guard in May 2001 as an aircraft armament specialist. Shortly after becoming a bomb loader on the B-1, Deeds cross-trained to become an inflight refueling specialist on the KC-135R. In November 2007, Deeds commissioned from the Academy of Military Science, McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base and subsequently graduated from Intelligence Officer School, Goodfellow AFB. He is an Air Force Weapons School graduate and has deployed as the Distributed Common Ground System Liaison Officer, Combined Air Operations Center, Al Udied Air Base, Qatar. Deeds has also served as the Wing Weapons Officer, 480th ISR Wing, Langley AFB, and as a Military Assistant to the Director for Defense Intelligence, Warfighter Support, Pentagon, D.C. Deeds has served in various Squadron Commands, State Headquarters Staff positions, and was the 184th Mission Support Group Commander prior to becoming the Deputy Wing Commander.
