Colonel David Hewlett is the Commander of the 184th Cyberspace Operations Group, McConnell AFB, Kansas. The Group’s mission is to identify and defend priority Department of Defense networks and mission systems from advanced persistent threats ensuring the U.S. Government, at all levels, has the ability to make battlefield decisions with accurate and timely information, while simultaneously protecting and supporting the citizens of Kansas through operational support or other means as necessary. Col Hewlett also plays a critical role in the development of the Kansas National Guard Cyber Security Strategy to improve the security and resilience of national infrastructure.

Colonel Hewlett is a 2000 graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air National Guard in September 2002. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Director of Information Technology, Joint Force Headquarters, Kansas ensuring the security of the Department of Defense Information Network for both the Air Force and the Army within the state of Kansas. Col Hewlett is trained as a Cyberspace Operations Officer, Intelligence Officer, and Aircraft Maintenance Officer whose assignments span all three career fields. Throughout his career, Col Hewlett has supported several contingency operations including Operation Northern Watch, Operation Noble Eagle, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
