Jayhawk Spotlight: Lt. Col. Norwood Published Feb. 22, 2021 By Master Sgt. Matt McCoy, 184th Public Affairs 184th Wing MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- Lt. Col. Herman “TC” Norwood Jr. Commander, 134th Air Control Squadron Fighting Jayhawk since 2016 Why did you join the 184th Wing? The opportunity to lead Airman and join a unit with an outstanding heritage and culture. On a personal note, having served in the active duty Air Force for 14 years the allure of settling down in a community such as Wichita, Kansas, and establishing roots was a huge draw for me and my family. What do you like most about serving in the Kansas Air National Guard? The people are the highlight of each day I serve in the KANG. To have the opportunity to serve alongside citizen-warriors from different backgrounds makes work fun. No other organization in the world does a better job of mixing together different ideals and experiences towards a common goal and exceeding expectations every day. Is there anything else you’d like to add? The 184th Wing’s future looks bright! Our distinct mission sets necessitates we look at creative ways to accomplish our objectives. Which in turn requires innovative solutions from a diverse pool of ideas and creative outside-the-box thinkers; we have this here and I’m proud to a part of this team.
