COLONEL ROHN H. HAMILTON

Colonel Rohn H. Hamilton is the Commander, 184th Medical Group, Kansas Air National Guard, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. The 184th Medical Group provides military combat medical support for the United States Armed Forces and civil disaster medical support on demand. The 184th Medical Group also provides world-wide deployment medical readiness support for members of the 184th Intelligence Wing through ongoing physical exam screening, immunization, environmental and occupational health monitoring, self-aid training, and wellness education.

Col Hamilton, a native of Oberlin, Kansas graduated from Kansas State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Commissioned in the United States Air Force on September 15, 1984, Col Hamilton subsequently attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB, Texas and was designated a Rated Pilot in December 1985. He then attended C-130 Tactical Air Training School at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. He spent the next four years at Rhein Main AB, Germany flying extensive tactical, airlift, embassy and Prime Nuclear Airlift Force (PNAF) missions throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Upon his departure from Germany as a C-130 Instructor Pilot, he spent the next two years as a C-130 Advanced Combat Flight Training Instructor Pilot at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas training United States and allied nation pilots in low level navigation, formation flying, tactical airdrops, and short field takeoff and landings. After completing his commitment and separating from the Air Force, he was hired with American Airlines in 1992. In 1994 he was furloughed with American Airlines. Col Hamilton joined the Kansas Air National Guard, 184th Bomb Wing in October 1994 as the Environmental and Bio environmental Engineer. Col Hamilton's responsibility as the Environmental Engineer included fiscal and operational control over all environmental programs at the 184th Bomb Wing and Detachment 1, Smoky Hill Weapons Range. As the Bio environmental Engineer for the 184th Medical Group he applied knowledge of engineering and health sciences to ensure guard personnel worked in a safe and healthy environment. In March 2001, Col Hamilton returned to flying with American Airlines and also maintained his status as a traditional guardsman working in the 184th Medical Group as the Chief of Bio environmental Engineering. As a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), he has worked part-time since May 2005 as a consulting environmental engineer/industrial hygienist for iSi (Integrated Solutions, Inc.) of Wichita, Kansas. Col Hamilton and his wife Kris have two children: Aaron and Brett.
