Have you ever wanted to serve?
Serving in the U.S. military is something we’re all proud of in the Kansas Air National Guard. We take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. Translation—we protect the rights and freedoms that our families, friends and neighbors enjoy.
In 2016, nearly half of our unit members deployed in support of operations all over the world. Many of them deployed to locations where freedom needs our protection the most.
Other unit members conduct operations from their home station that affect worldwide military campaigns. They communicate with specialized aerial vehicles that transmit multiple sources of data back to McConnell Air Force Base. Teams of analysts interpret the data to provide warfighters timely and accurate information about the battlefield. In doing so, they protect Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and civilians from enemy forces.

Are you looking for adventure?
With the Kansas Air National Guard, you have the opportunity to see and do things you may have never imagined. Our Airmen travel to many parts of the United States and the world in support of training exercises, humanitarian missions, construction support and combat operations.
Whether they’re building houses for Native American tribes in Arizona, providing medical care to civilians in Armenia, cooking meals in Hawaii or securing a base in the Middle East, our Kansas Air Guardsmen experience many different cultures while doing something they can be proud of.
“Before I joined the Kansas Air National Guard, I’d never even been on an airplane. Since then, I’ve been to 19 states, two U.S. territories and eight countries. Each trip would cost thousands of dollars if I paid for them, but the Air Guard paid me to travel instead. I got paid to see the world!” –Matt McCoy, photojournalist
Do you enjoy helping people?
In the Kansas Air National Guard, we’re committed to serving our nation, state and community, especially in times of crisis. We’re trained and equipped to help civilian organizations such as local law enforcement, emergency management, medical and civil engineering agencies when disaster strikes.
Our Airmen helped Greensburg, Kansas, recover from a devastating tornado that struck in May 2007. Almost every section of the unit pitched in to provide relief for our neighbors. We supplied power generators for electricity, used heavy equipment to clear debris from the streets, assisted law enforcement to prevent looting, and prepared meals for volunteers and storm victims.
Additionally, the unit sent medical personnel to New York during the recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy in November 2013. A year later, the unit’s construction personnel rebuilt U.S. Highway 36 between Lyons and Estes Park, Colorado, after floods washed out the road and cut residents off from critical services.
Most recently, the Kansas Air National Guard provided vital assistance to our neighbors in the southern states and territories following the devastation caused by multiple hurricanes. Our Air Guardsmen conducted 24-hour, multi-week operations in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
These stateside emergency operations are what separate the Air National Guard from the Active Duty Air Force and Air Force Reserve.

What do you want to learn?
Our motto is “Many Missions…One Team. The Fighting Jayhawks.” Our many missions require many different skill sets.
Available jobs include military intelligence, cyber operations, communications and electronics (computers, networks, radar, telecomm, etc.), and cyber-security. These are very marketable trades to have in the civilian sector.
Other jobs include law enforcement, medical, construction, logistics, vehicle maintenance, accounting and administration. Why pay a vocational school to learn these trades when the Kansas Air National Guard will pay you to learn them?
Do you need more cash?
