184 IW MVPs at WSU Baseball's Military Appreciation Day

The 184th Intelligence Wing was out in force at the WSU Baseball's Military Appreciation Day ballgame on May 15th. After the posting of the colors 184th Head Chaplain and former WSU football player, Lt Col Terry Williams, walked out to the pitcher's mound to throw the ceremonial "First Pitch". While walking to the mound the announcer shared Chaplain Williams' military and WSU biographies with the crowd. Chaplain Williams graduated WSU in 1981 with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He played football for the Shockers from 1977 to 1980 under Coach Willie Jeffries as a free safety and was Co-Captain for the 1980 team. He was awarded "Honorable Mention All-Missouri Valley" in 1980. The crowd showed their respect by clapping and standing during the reading of his military biography, but when they heard that Chaplain Williams was a former WSU football player all 3,625 erupted in cheers. After the applause died down, the announcer told Chaplain Williams to, "show us what you got". Good thing he was throwing to Shocker star outfielder Ryan Jones because Chaplain Williams put a little too much zip on the throw and Jones had to get out of his catcher's position to flag down the ball. Jones got the ball and reigned in successfully. It made for a good ending to great start of WSU Baseball's Military Appreciation Day.
